Hexagon Quilt

Size: 67” x 80” without flounce
Attached, unlined, chintz flounce or skirt that measures 12” on each side and 13.5” on the bottom. No flounce on the top though top border (5”) is of the same fabric.

Notes: English paper pieced hexagon/honeycomb quilt from the early 1800s arranged in a frame style layout. The center hexagon has the following is embroidered in blue “Sarah Wa_l Allestney. Quilt is English in origin and was purchased in Australia by the donor. No other provenance available. Home woven backing possibly linen. No batting, minimal quilting at 5 stitches to the inch. Condition is poor with fabric loss and staining as well as damage to the skirt, however, the fabrics that remain are wonderful study pieces.
